Outreach

The people at St. George like to put their faith into action. Not only do we praise God through worship, but we also praise God through our many outreach activities.

Local

• Area foodbanks, soup kitchens and shelters
• Mariposa House Hospice (Website: http://www.mariposahousehospice.com/ ).
• FaithWorks (Diocese of Toronto) (Website: http://faithworks.ca/ ).
  This is a Diocesan organization that provides funding for projects across the Diocese of Toronto.
  Two of those projects are in our area:  the David Busby Centre in Barrie (Website: https://www.busbycentre.ca/ ) and
  Couchiching Jubilee House in Orillia (Website: https://www.jubileehouse.ca/ ).

 National

• Supporting ministries in the Diocese of the Arctic (Website: https://www.arcticnet.org/ ).
• Other ministries across Canada (for example, Threshold Ministries. Website: https://www.thresholdministries.ca/ )

Internationally

• Foster children through Compassion Canada (Website: https://www.compassion.ca/ )
• Syrian refugee sponsorship (2016-17)

Several times a year Pancake Breakfasts are held at the church at which people give a free-will offering which goes to the Outreach Fund.

“Catch-up Fridays” are a popular get together where members of the congregation gather at someone’s home for a great potluck meal and fellowship.  A free-will donation goes to Outreach.  On occasion, if there has been an immediate need identified in our community, the donation has been given directly to them.
