ACW celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2017.
*In 1967 the amalgamation of several women’s ministry groups formed a new group to better serve the changing times and allow women to be stronger together. The purpose of the Toronto Diocesan Anglican Church Women is to be a focus for Christian community among all Anglican Women, affirming their gifts and encouraging their ministries through worship, learning and service. The primary reason for ACW is not fundraising, it is worship, learning, service and fellowship.
*At the diocesan level, ACW works to support mission in the North, provides bursaries for women theological students, chancel training, social concerns and actions. The decline in parish groups either through church closures or dissolutions of the local groups has impacted their work.
In our own church, the main focus of the group is to make contact with people in our community and our own members when there is illness or bereavement. We work as a group with all the members of our congregation to organize funeral lunches for example.
